Signs of Worn-Out Brake Pads
Your brake pads encounter a lot of friction during regular operation, which can reduce performance over time. It's important to pay attention to the way your vehicle feels to know when you should consider changing your brake pads.
One of the easiest ways to check your brake pads is to visually inspect them. If they seem thin, you'll want to make sure you replace your brake pads as soon as possible. Apart from a visual inspection, you can also listen to your brakes to determine how worn down they are. Many brake pads have a metal tab built into them that will scrape against your rotor once the pad has reached a certain thickness. This will produce a squealing sound when you brake.
Finally, if you find that your vehicle has a longer stopping distance than usual, it may be time for you to replace your brake pads. At this point, your brakes are starting to affect your performance, which could make stopping a challenge at fast speeds or in the rain.
