Drive Greater Distances and Leave the 3,000 Mile Myth Behind

Many believe that the 3,000-mile myth is a rule that should be followed in order to keep up with a vehicle's oil maintenance. They have either heard it from other people who swear by it, or they may have read it in an automotive magazine. We at Hixson Toyota are here to tell you that this rule does not apply anymore.

A growing number of automotive factories are producing high quality automobiles that can go much greater distances between oil changes. The average that today's vehicles can go between oil service is around five thousand miles.

This is almost twice of what the myth states and by following the new rules one can save more than 40% off of their yearly oil change bill. Not only that, but they only need to spend half the time at the oil service center since they can drive farther on their current oil.
